Terms of Use and License
Effective November 3, 2026
These terms govern your use of Compliwright's compliance kits, the Compliwright portal and the documents they generate (together, the "Service"). "Compliwright," "we" and "us" mean the business operating compliwright.com. "You" means the person or organization that buys or uses a license. By buying a license or using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. What you are buying
You are buying a license to use the Service for the period you paid for, not ownership of any software, template or content. Each license covers the product, tier, number of users and term shown at checkout or in a signed order form.
2. License grant
While your license is active and you comply with these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own organization's internal business purposes, within your tier's limits.
- Business and Multi-site licenses cover your own organization (or the related organizations listed in your order). They do not permit preparing documents for clients or third parties.
- Professional, white-label, association and enterprise rights exist only under a separate signed agreement. White-label rights are never included unless that agreement says so.
3. Documents you generate
Completed documents generated for your organization are yours to use in the ordinary course of business, including submitting them to certifying agencies, auditors, regulators, customers and counterparties. Generated documents carry your organization's name and license identifier.
4. What you may not do
- Share, resell, sublicense or publish the Service, its templates, question sets, workbooks or other reusable materials.
- Share sign-in links, accounts or license keys with anyone outside your licensed organization.
- Use the Service to build a competing product, or copy, scrape or reverse-engineer it.
- Enter information the Service tells you not to store, such as Social Security numbers, immigration document numbers, patient information or personal financial figures outside the fields designed for them.
- Interfere with the Service's security or use it unlawfully.
5. Not legal advice
The Service provides educational tools and templates. It is not legal, tax, accounting or professional advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client or other professional relationship. We do not guarantee certification, approval, compliance or any outcome. You are responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of everything you submit and for deciding whether to seek professional advice. Compliwright is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any government agency or certifying body.
6. Updates
We update the Service when we learn of relevant rule or form changes, but we do not promise that every change will be reflected by a particular date. Check current requirements with the responsible agency.
7. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Licenses are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment and sales tax. Annual licenses renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your license then stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
8. When a license ends
When a license expires or is cancelled, you can view and export your stored records for a limited period (currently 60 days after expiry, 30 days after a refund or revocation), but you cannot generate new documents or change records. Documents you generated while licensed remain yours. We may suspend or end a license that breaches these terms.
9. Your data
How we handle information is described in our privacy notice.
10. Warranty disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, contracts, certifications or data, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the license in the 12 months before the claim arose.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes take effect at your next renewal, and we will post the new effective date on this page.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Compliwright is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
